It all starts when you are tired; tired not from working till 5 in the morning but by not being able to do what you wanted. Why are you doing what you are doing? What is making you do it? What made you do this in the fist place?
The answer is simple, you did this because somewhere down the road, you want or wanted people to remember you by this specific thing that you are doing; its because you want THIS to be the Quintessence of your life.
There must be a lot of points or moments in your life that you look back at and say that this is describes my life. Life is not static and neither are the moments that define it. You do things and then you move on but every once in a while, life stops itself compels you to look back and retrospect your past.
The purpose is never to teach you anything but rather to take some time and look at what you made of your life. Were you able to touch some lives? Were you able to become a part of someone else’s? Did you live up to your definition of your life? Were you too concerned with your own life that you forgot the whole purpose of having a LIFE?
What defines your life? What or who gives it a meaning?
Too many question, right? These are all answered when you have your quintessence right there in front of you. It's not easy finding that.
The interesting thing about it is that it is never constant. You have to keep moving forward after you realize it and then you have to again look back and retrospect your whole life. See, unlike many things, I've come to realize that the definition of life is not sustained or unwavering rather, it is quite fluid and volatile.
I've found my quintessence and it is not something that is bound to a single illustration in my life. It is:
1. the belongingness on the basketball court, how may hands knew when to rise, how my feet knew where to step next.
2. the desperation of wanting to fall in love again when you see that beautiful face smiling at you, when you see your parents share a moment of joy, when you are talking to someone and you can already see your future with them.
3. the helplessness when I’m not able to say what I want, when I wonder what the response would be if I did, when I want to start something new.
4. the feeling of wanting to hold that person who means the world to you, wanting acceptance from your friends.
5. the willingness to express yourself when you see a blank screen with a blinking cursor, to paint words on it like an artist on a blank canvas, to tell everyone how you feel and not wanting to be judged.
Understanding my life can be difficult and easy based on how well you know me. I've done my part of sharing this with you. When you find your Quintessence, do share it others, it's a bliss.
